Home Care Services Helps Keep Seniors In Their Homes

Home Care Services Santa Clarita is helping SCV seniors stay in their homes not only by offering professional caregiving services, but also through their brand new Caregiver Resource Center designed to help community members caring for their loved ones themselves.
There’s a long period of time that people don’t need (to be in a nursing home) and don’t want that, and they just need some care at home,” said Home Care Services Founder and President Rick Ferrante. “So we’re trying to help support that in a whole bunch of different ways.”
Caregiver Resource Center staff regularly put on presentations, workshops and seminars focused on a variety of senior-related topics, such as elder care law, nutrition and stress management.
“It’s almost a game trying to find someone who hasn’t gone through this, is going through this now or will be going through this,” Ferrante added. “We put on these presentations and so on to support those people. Nobody gets trained for this.”
In addition to hosting informational presentations, the resource center also provides family caregiver support groups, products and services designed to help anyone caring for a senior loved one in their home.
For those seeking additional help, Home Care Services offers a variety of professional caregiving services as well.
Professional caregivers can help individuals with non-medical care, such as getting around the house, bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation and more. While caregivers can monitor and help people with their medications, they do not administer it, according to Ferrante.
“We provide caregivers to seniors and others who need help with activities of daily living at home,” Ferrante said. “Any kind of number of hours a day and days of the week… That’s the core of what we do.”
