Apply for Master Caregiver Certification with the American Caregiver Association

 

 

It has been a long time coming, but it’s finally here. What are we talking about?

Master Caregiver Certification, or “MCC.”

But, how do I qualify for Master Caregiver Certification, you might ask? Here are the requirements that the American Caregiver Association has established.

You must have:

1. Completed the National Caregiver Certification Course (NCCC) with the American Caregiver Association.

2. Completed the Advanced National Caregiver Certification Course (ANCCC) with the American Caregiver Association.

3. Completed the National Assisted Living Manager Certification Course (NALMCC) with the American Caregiver Association.

4. Completed the Certificate of Caregiver Ethics (Level 1) Course (CCEL1) with the American Caregiver Association.

5. Must have a minimum of five (5) years of verifiable experience as a caregiver. Experience can come in the form of private duty, facility settings or family caregiving.

Frequently asked questions:

1. If I already have NCCC, ANCCC, NALMCC and CCEL1 certification with the ACA can I apply for MCC? Yes. You would only need to have five years of verifiable experience as a caregiver in addition to your ACA certifications in order to be eligible to apply for MCC.

2. What is the cost of applying for MCC? Cost to apply for MCC is $99 in addition to any other certification course perquisites mentioned above that  you may need to fulfill.

3. If I have already five years of experience as a caregiver, but I don’t have any certifications with the ACA what do I need to do to apply for MCC? You would need to complete the remaining requirements above (e.g., NCCC, ANCCC, NALMCC and CCEL1 certifications).

4. Is there a discount for all of the courses if I want to take all of them at once? Yes. For those who meet the experience qualifications, but lack the required certification outlined above, you can get all courses plus your caregiver ID card for one discounted price of $249. 5. How much is the application fee for MCC. Cost to apply for Master Caregiver Certification is $99.

6. If I already have all of the required certifications with the ACA, but I don’t have the required years of verifiable experience as a caregiver, can I still apply for MCC? Yes, you can still apply for MCC, but your MCC will be held until you have satisfied all MCC requirements.
