CalPERS and American Caregiver Association
The American Caregiver Association continues to be a proud preferred provider for the state of California CalPERS Long-Term Care Program. With this in mind, when you request to become and Independent Provider (IP) under the provisions of the plan you will need to meet certain requirements in order to be compensated as a Provider. One such requirement involves you becoming a certified caregiver.
As the national accrediting body for caregivers, and a preferred provider for CalPERS, the American Caregiver Association has made the process of acquiring certification simple. Go to our website American Caregiver Association and choose the certification course or package that you want. As an Independent Provider applying with CalPERS you will generally want the National Caregiver Certification Course (NCCC). Along with your NCCC course you will also want to pick up your caregiver ID card. Both of these items can be purchased through our online store here Get Your NCCC Course and ID
The caregiver ID is a credit card size version of your certification that is also connected to the National Caregiver Registry. The caregiver ID cards are only issued by the ACA and make your life as a caregiver a bit easier when interested parties make inquiries about your certification status. You can simply pull the card from your wallet or purse and present the card to anyone making the inquiry about your certification status.
If you have any questions about caregiver training and certification with the American Caregiver Association don’t hesitate to contact the ACA either by phone at 1-800-625-8108, or send us a message here Contact Us.
